MARK Molesley was full of praise for his side winning in ‘typical Weymouth fashion’ but also heaped compliments on Dorchester Town after the Terras’ 1-0 win in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South.
Brandon Goodship won the match late on, after Kingsley Latham could not keep hold of Yemi Odubade’s deflected shot, allowing Goodship to tap in.
Molesley said: “We have done it in typical Weymouth fashion, we have left it late near the end but we kept going.”
The Magpies clearly impressed the Weymouth boss, who did not look like conceding with Latham having a fantastic game and deservedly named the man of the match.
The first encounter between these two sides this season ended 5-0 to Weymouth, but the Magpies looked nothing like the side that was torn apart back in August.
Molesley said: “It was a tough game, these derbies are no gimmes, Dorchester are vastly improved from the start of the season, what a good side they are.
“Very energetic and good young energy about them and it was a toe-to-toe clash.”
Molesley admitted that perhaps for the neutral they may have wanted to see more goals, but put that down to Latham’s performance in the Dorchester goal.
Molesley said: “I thought it was a great Boxing Day game, I suppose for the neutral they want to see a few more goals but it was only 0-0 due to what a fantastic display from their goalkeeper who rightly so took man-of-the-match.
“He thwarted us time and time again.
“Fortunately we got the breakthrough right at the end and it shows again the impact from the subs that made a difference.
